When her eyes opened, she found herself completely alone in the room. Her husband was nowhere to be found. When she checked the time, it was half-past seven in the morning. Whatever had happened the previous night with him was perhaps a part of his changing behavior.
She didn’t know what all could be taken from him, but last night, his sense of pride was taken away from him. The person who had been so close to her, who had encircled her with his arms, was continuously trying to assert his dominance over her.
And she lay in his arms like a silent, lifeless thing, an odd sensation enveloping her. As if someone was protecting her, but it wasn’t protection, it was confinement.
